So let’s take a little trip down memory lane. Remember this sweet girl? Here she is only a few weeks old and just shy of 5 months. Isn’t she perfect? And remember that hair? I loved her (and her parents!) the moment we met.
And here she is now, a big one year old! She’s still rocking that hair (though it’s a bit more tame these days!) and has all the personality and sass that can fit into one little girl.
We attempted some first year portraits before the cake, though she really wasn’t interested in anything besides trying to get off the set and away from the props as fast as humanly possible. We had to bring out the cake pretty quickly to keep her attention, so hopefully we’ll get a few more portraits on another day (I have a few outdoor shots up my sleeve that I want to try!)
Her shabby chic cake was from the fabulous Chickadee Hill Cakes in Sandown, NH. I can not say enough about this amazing vendor and the owner, Shara. She and her assistants really know how to create cakes that not only look beautiful but taste just as wonderful as they look. I have to say one of the things I love about them the most (besides their awesome staff!) is how much attention is paid to detail. The frosting and fondant are flawless, they don’t even look real! I’ve seen cakes from other places that have clearly had the fondant ‘overworked’ – there are fingerprints in it (yuck!) or the ‘straight’ lines aren’t actually straight, or are just sloppy. You NEVER have to worry about any of that with Chickadee Hill – they are 100% amazing.
Miss T didn’t know what to think of the cake at first. Her mom thought she would be ‘diving in’ as she had done at her party but she seemed to want to admire this cake for a while.
I love the expression here, you can see the excitement and joy to have this cake at her fingertips!
Nom nom nom…
Oops… getting a little sidetracked…
She was pretty serious through most of our shoot but cracked a few smiles here and there.
Happy Birthday, T! I can’t wait to see you grow in 2013!
