This session will be remembered as one of my favorites to date! It was also my first gender reveal session ever. Not only was it exciting to watch a family’s reaction to finding out that they are expecting a little girl, but it was even more exciting because they happen to be good friends of ours. A lot of people have asked how we set this up – it was pretty simple. When they went to their routine 20-week ultrasound, they had the technician write down the sex and seal it in an envelope. They then mailed it to me – easy peasy! Once I got the results in the mail (and jumped up and down with excitement) I set up the balloons. The day was so fun and just perfect (well, it could’ve been less windy but I’ll take the wind over rain, or anything worse that Mother Nature could’ve thrown at us during this strange spring).
All of these reactions are 100% genuine… especially because daddy thought for SURE it would be another boy.
What you don’t see in these photos, is the group of grandparents going nuts behind me. It was really fun having them there and just added to the whole experience to have everyone get the news at the same time. In retrospect, I should’ve turned around quickly and snapped a pic of them cheering and yelling, but I didn’t want to miss any moments with the three (soon to be four!) in front of me. You can tell how loud the gang behind me got as big brother-to-be got a little nervous!
C is going to be such a great big brother!
This baby is so blessed.
I love capturing sweet, candid moments like this. Congratulations F family! We are so excited for you, thank you for letting me capture such a precious moment! I can’t wait to meet your little girl!
And please note, the balloons were tied into the box — we didn’t let them go (I’m very aware of how dangerous helium balloons can be to wildlife and the environment!) 🙂
